A year into the rebuilt incentive, the honest ledger of what's actually in front of cameras in Texas is long enough to sort by region.

Fort Worth is the center of gravity

The Taylor Sheridan universe now effectively headquarters in North Texas. Lioness season three shot in Fort Worth into the spring — closing University Drive in the Cultural District for stunt work and filming inside the old City Hall, per the Fort Worth Report. Dutton Ranch, the Yellowstone spinoff with Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, filmed in Ferris and on the Saunders Ranch near Weatherford and premiered on Paramount+ in May. Frisco King — the Tulsa King-universe series starring Samuel L. Jackson, the show the incentive famously pulled from New Orleans — has been shooting in Fort Worth since March. And Landman season three starts this month across West Texas, including the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie.

Anchoring all of it: the 450,000-square-foot production campus Paramount, Sheridan's SGS Studios and Hillwood opened at AllianceTexas this year — reported as the largest studio facility in the state.

Beyond the Sheridan belt

The Chosen is shooting its seventh and final season at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, on more than 80,000 square feet of stages and standing sets, with open casting calls for local extras running all summer. An HBO school-emergency thriller has been on the production listings in Waco. Eleven Days, Peter Landesman's telling of the 1974 Carrasco siege at Huntsville Penitentiary with Taylor Kitsch and Diego Luna, is set up to shoot in state. And El Paso — fresh off hosting portions of Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another — has two projects scouting, per the city's film commissioner.

The scoreboard

Five Texas cities made MovieMaker's 2026 best-places-to-work list — Austin at #5, with Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso all placing. The incentive fund logged roughly a hundred applications in its first months. Media for Texas says the phones “have been ringing off the hook.” None of this is permanent, and the residency thresholds start climbing next year — but as of this August, the sentence “nothing shoots in Texas” is a sentence from a different decade.
